What is CBCT?

CBCT, or “cone beam” CT, is a low-radiation alternative to conventional CT scan, which gives excellent detail of bony tissues, for surgery of the teeth, jaws and facial bones.

The dose of radiation administered with a CBCT can be less than 10% of that of a conventional CT, which is an important consideration especially in paediatric patients.

We offer this service in-house, and in some circumstances you may be eligible for a rebate from medicare, which can help to cover the cost of your imaging.

In some circumstances, you may be referred for further imaging or investigations outside of the practice - if required, this will be discussed with you at your appointment.

Please note that we only offer imaging for patients patients having treatment at the practice, and we do not accept referrals for radiological investigations only. If you require investigations for treatment outside of the practice, please ask your practitioner to refer you to a radiology provider.
